Dear friends,
I wanted to give you an update on what is going on in my life. After quitting my part time job as an after school tutor last summer in order to attend school full time and try to transfer to a four year university, my life has been filled with many ups and downs. However, after much hard work and sacrifice, I am glad to share that I have been accepted to Azusa Pacific University and will be starting in the fall this year in hopes to finding a way to combine my passion for worship and serving others through counseling. 2012 has been and will continue to be a year of change for me, not only will I be going to a new school soon but I also will be moving to a new city. Although this transition will be challenging knowing that my family, friends, and home church Newsong LA will be further away, I’m excited and eager to see what God has in store in helping me to become the man he wants me to be.
In my pursuit in growing as a worship leader,
I have been given the opportunity again to attend the National Worship Leaders Conference in Leawood, Kansas this summer. The NWLC is a three-and-a half-day conference filled with workshops, general sessions, and four nights of worship. The purpose of NWLC is to minister to worship leaders, musicians, and vocal teams from all across the nation. With the many changes and stressors I encountered since my last summer, I am looking forward to this conference to refresh my spirit, revive my passion, and help me gain new knowledge and refine skills as a worship leader. Participating in such an event will help me in my emotional and spiritual growth, and will provide me with the resources and skills to help benefit the worship ministry of my home church as well as the varies ministries in which I serve.
In order to make this possible I need to develop a team of ministry partners who will prayerfully support my time at NWLC. As you might imagine, raising the necessary funds will be one of my greatest steps of faith in preparation for this event. Having had the opportunity to attend the NWLC last summer gave me the chance to develop new friendships, and I am glad to say that a friend of mine who lives in Kansas offered me to stay with her and her family as the conference takes place. This will help substantially with the expenses. I need to raise a total of $1,500 by July 15th in order to cover travel costs, registration, materials, and food. Would you prayerfully consider joining my team by giving a gift of $25, $50, $100 or more? Of course whatever amount the Lord may lead you to give will be greatly appreciated. You can give your donation by signing up for a free account here or mailing your gift to 8131 Dearborn Ave. Apt. F, South Gate, CA 90280. All check made out to Newsong LA are tax deductible.
Please keep me in your prayers as I seek to follow the Lord by participating in this conference. Thank you for considering joining my team and investing in me as a worship leader and friend.
Blessings,
Giovanni Garcia
